Our easy guide to organizing your home in 7 steps

    Brabantia Life

Imagine a home that exudes calm and tranquility. A home where there is a place for everything and where everything is in its place. This could be your home if you follow our easy guide to organizing your home.

Keeping your home organised is easy once you know how!

    1. 5 minutes of tidying up

Do this at the end of the day, before you go to bed. Then you will wake up to a tidy house, instead of chaos. If everyone in the family does it, your house will be even tidier!

    2. Clean up the kitchen

Do this after every meal. A clean and tidy kitchen is nice to cook in. Washing up before cooking dinner is no fun.

    3. A place for everything

Don’t let clutter build up in corners and on surfaces. Choose drawers and cabinets for linens, papers, games, toys and all the other things that make a house a home. When things are always put away in their rightful place, they’ll always be easy to find.

    4. Sort out items regularly

Less is definitely more when it comes to a tidy home. Spend a few hours every few months sorting through old clothes, shoes, bags, toys, books and other things you really don’t need anymore. And don’t fill your new free space with more clutter!

    5. Make a schedule for tidying up and cleaning

Make a list of daily, weekly and monthly tasks. Also think about things like washing windows, sweeping floors, sorting closets and putting away toys, games, books and magazines. Give different family members a task so that the cleaning up doesn't fall on you alone.

    6. Keep track of the laundry

Piles of laundry can make your home look cluttered. Create a laundry system to keep clothes clean and organized. Always put clothes away as soon as they come out of the dryer or off the clothesline.

    7. Make the beds

A made bed makes the room look tidy and is also nice to lie down in at the end of the day. Make it a habit to make your bed as soon as you get out of bed - it only takes a few seconds.
