Hop into the kitchen and create Bugs Bunny-themed cake pops that are as cute as they are delicious! Follow this simple guide to bring your favourite Looney Tunes character to life—one bite at a time!
1 box of cake mix (any flavour – chocolate, vanilla, or carrot cake for extra Bugs Bunny vibes!)
Eggs, oil, and water (as per cake mix instructions)
1 cup of frosting (vanilla or cream cheese works great)
White candy melts (for Bugs’ fur)
Gray food colouring (to mix into the candy melts)
Pink candy melts (for the nose and inner ears)
Black edible marker (or black candy melts for details)
White fondant (for the teeth and eyes)
Lollipop sticks
Mixing bowl & spoon
Hand mixer or stand mixer
Cake pop sticks
Foam block or cake pop stand
Piping bag (for finer details)
Toothpicks (for small details like whiskers and fur texture)
Bake your cake according to the box instructions. Let it cool completely before handling.
Crumble the cake into a large bowl, breaking it into fine crumbs using your hands or a fork.
Add frosting to the crumbled cake, a little at a time, and mix until the texture is similar to cookie dough. You should be able to form it into a ball without it crumbling apart.
Roll cake mixture into oval-shaped balls (since Bugs Bunny has a slightly elongated head).
Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Freeze for 15-20 minutes to firm up before adding sticks.
Melt a small amount of white candy melts.
Dip the tip of each lollipop stick into the melted candy, then insert it into the bottom of each cake ball.
Place them back in the freezer for another 10 minutes to set.
Melt white candy melts, then mix in a little grey food colouring to get that classic Bugs Bunny fur colour.
Dip each cake pop into the candy melt, gently tapping off the excess.
Stick them into a foam block or cake pop stand to dry completely.
Now it’s time to bring Bugs Bunny to life!
Roll out white fondant and cut small ovals for the eyes.
Use black edible marker or black candy melts to draw pupils.
Roll a small piece of fondant into a rectangle shape for Bugs’ signature buck teeth.
Attach the teeth to the lower part of the cake pop using melted candy melts.
Melt pink candy melts and pipe a small dot onto the face for the nose.
Use fondant or candy melts to create small pink ovals for the inside of his ears.
Use a toothpick dipped in black candy melts (or an edible marker) to draw his whiskers and smile.
Cut out fondant or candy melts into long bunny ear shapes.
Let them harden for 15 minutes before sticking them on top of the cake pop with melted candy.
Once all decorations are in place, let your cake pops set for 15-20 minutes.
Serve them up at a party, pack them in gift bags, or enjoy them as a fun Looney Tunes treat!
